Mid-Level DBA
Remote Control DBA, LLP is an innovative IT consulting firm in Columbia, SC. Founded by two well-rounded and respected consultants, Remote Control DBA enjoys a great deal of success in the IT industry. Remote Control DBA specializes in remote administration and monitoring for roughly 100 servers and 300 databases, with customers on six continents. Remote Control DBA also engages in on-site implementations for complex technology solutions such as Oracle RAC.
Remote Control DBA is growing rapidly and is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team. Remote Control DBA will provide the right candidate a chance to grow and advance as quickly as the company is. Remote Control DBA provides an intense in-house training program focused on Oracle and UNIX Administration. You will be trained by one of two senior consultants, who have a combined 20+ years experience in IT.
The ideal candidate is a mid-level Oracle Database Administrator with a strong understanding of core computer architecture. The candidate should also have some knowledge of UNIX Systems, programming, and web applications. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to learn fast, as well as a motivation to quickly become a senior level administrator and eventually a Team Lead.
In regards to Oracle DBA experience the candidate must have:
- Excellent understanding of computer architecture
- Good problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience installing oracle 9i/10g
- Experience patching Oracle, including patch sets and CPUs
- Experience managing backup and recovery, including RMAN, export/import, hot backup, etc
- Experience moving tables and Indexes
- Experience writing SQL and PL/SQL, including queries, triggers, stored procedures, etc
Exceptionally qualified candidates will also have:
- Experience partitioning tables and indexes
- Experience configuring and maintaining replicated databases, including master to master and master to snapshot
- Experience working with large databases and/or Data Warehouses
- Familiarity with UNIX operating systems. Solaris or RedHat is a plus
- Familiarity with Informatica, Business Objects, Hyperion, and Cognos
