Remote Control DBA, LLP is an innovative IT consulting firm located in Columbia, SC. We support a wide range of solutions, offering you the opportunity to work with nearly every type of installation and configuration. While most projects are handled remotely, there is also ample opportunity to engage in on-site implementations for complex solutions such as Oracle RAC.
The ideal candidate is an expert Oracle DBA with a strong understanding of core computer architecture. The candidate should also have some knowledge of UNIX Systems, programming and business intelligence applications. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Working experience is required in:
- Installing and configuring Oracle 8i/9i/10g
- Database upgrades and migrations
- Patching Oracle Databases, including patch sets and CPU
- Configuring and maintaining backups, including RMAN, export/import, hot backup, etc
- Moving and cloning Oracle databases
- Oracle performance tuning, including the use of Statpack, tracing, explain plans and SQL query tuning
- Rebuilding tables and Indexes
- Writing SQL and PL/SQL, including queries, triggers, stored procedures, etc
- User management, including adding/removing and security
- Locally managed tablespaces
- Reorganizing Databases
- Familiarity with UNIX operating systems. Solaris or RedHat is a plus
Candidates must also have:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent understanding of computer architecture
- good problem-solving skills
Exceptional candidates will also demonstrate experience with:
- Programming, UNIX shell scripting,C/C++, Java or Perl is a plus
- Data Warehouse environments
- Configuring and maintaining Oracle replication, both master to master and master to snapshot
- Creating and troubleshooting materialized views
- Oracle Partitioning
- Installing and Configuring Oracle RAC
- Installing and Configuring Oracle DataGuard
- Database/server hardening
- Familiarity with Informatica, Business Objects, Hyperion, and Cognos
